CoWare Adds ARM1136J-S™ Processor to ConvergenSC Model Library

The First Commercially Available ARM11 Processor Support Package for SystemC Reduces Design Time by Enabling Exploration and Debug at System Level


SAN JOSE, Calif., September 4, 2003 - CoWare® Inc., the leading supplier of system-level electronic design automation (EDA) software, announced that the first processor support package (PSP) using the ARM11™ Cycle Callable Models (CCMs), has been added to its extensive ConvergenSC™ Model Library. The PSP for the ARM1136J-S™ core from CoWare helps reduce overall design time by allowing designers to explore and debug their designs at the system level.

The ConvergenSC Model Library of simulation models for SystemC includes models based on ARM® certified CCMs - the most flexible and highest performance software models for simulation acceleration. In addition to the ARM1136J-S core, the library includes the ARM7™ core, the ARM9™ core, and the ARM10™ core families, as well as numerous other processor and bus models.

"CoWare is meeting increased demand among designers for SystemC ARM processor models. With this release, hardware and software designers can optimize their designs using high-speed software simulation with fully cycle accurate behavior for the latest ARM processors."

By running simulations on the CoWare PSP, users can determine the optimum architecture for their specific application early in the design process. The PSP consists of a fast, accurate Instruction-Set Simulator (ISS), a bus interface model, an ARM debug interface and compatibility with the ARM software tool chain (compiler, assembler, linker) for the processor. The PSP for the ARM1136J-S core works with the CoWare AMBA™ TLM bus simulator. The models are compliant with the ARM AMBA 2.0 bus standard.

CoWare's unique integration technology offers user-friendly features including enhanced in-system debugging with semi hosting; the ability to load software images on-the-fly in different memory locations, and the ability to modify the endianness of the core at runtime. "CoWare is committed to providing customers with the broadest range of IP models available to simulate their designs quickly and easily," said Mark Milligan, vice president, marketing, CoWare. "With the ConvergenSC Model Library PSPs, designers can debug their software and hardware early in the design process, with the right IP models for their specific design requirements. The PSPs, in conjunction with CoWare's analysis tools, let customers pinpoint bottlenecks in their designs at the system level, to greatly speed their time-to-market."

Pricing and Availability
CoWare's PSP for the ARM1136J-S Core will be available in production release in October 2003, and is shipping to beta customers now. Pricing starts at $10,000 (U.S.) for a one-year subscription license. CoWare's ConvergenSC System Designer product is available now. ConvergenSC runs on Sun Solaris and Linux operating systems.
